“Echoes” in mind

Sometimes I sit down to write a line

But the words, they do not come

How can I engrave on paper

What is deep inside if nothing can be found

I take the time to ponder more,

And sometimes my life inspire

But nothing is found,

And no thoughts abound,

Then at times my mind does tire

I live this life of struggle and trouble

But yet I choose to stay

A spirit to wander all these rooms,

A shadow on the wall

Marble floors and oaken doors,

All closed now down the hall

Sometimes I wish I were outside

In then I could really see
I would see what others do

And see what is truly me
Cause if I could go Inside-out

And then go back again
Would I like the view as others do

Or then go Outside-In?
What side would I really like?

Which would I like to be?
The one who shows what is in my heart

For that is really me.
For what is inside they would rather hide

What is outside to see
If they would take a little time

Look Inside Out of me
They would find a precious prize

That outside can’t be seen
Be it Inside Out or Outside-In

It is all the same to me
What difference does it make to some

How they are judging me?

Dad’s Little Girl

She is his little girl, he held her close in his arms

He tried to protect and keep her from all harm

He saw her through all her pleasures and ills

He watched her grow, from blue jeans to frills

She was the answer to all of his prayers

Again he held close, he calmed her fears

He kissed her forehead, made better all her life’s little pains

He always tried to bring sun shine and never the rain

So much emotion, through all of the years

He helped her with homework, he taught her to drive

To first day of college, he slowly gave way

Keep her from harm …… again he did pray

so care free she slipped … from his loving arms

No more to protect or keep her from harm

How often he did wonder, with him would she stay

Through all of her drama, his hair turned to gray

Not once did he hesitate in what she would be

Today as he watched her … wings spreading to fly

He wanted to hold her as close one more time

Oh my! How she’s grown through all of these years

He tells her goodbye and holds back his tears

He held her so close in his arms for one more time

He will never forget, She’s still his little girl .
