New York

It has been really very long since I have been to Picture hall and watched any movie…. Well the reason why I have not been to theater were:-
Point 1 . I didn’t have the nice company to go with
Point 2 . I had my exams
Point 3 . I was busy back at home and then in internship
Point 4 . There were no movies worth going for…
And point 4. BLAH BLAH BLU BLU….. hehehe… I don’t know anymore.. hehehe
Frankly speaking… These were not the only reason that I didn’t go out to watch movies….. It just that…. I didn’t feel like watching movies…. Wohuhuhu… But finally after my exams and internship…. My wait is over… J
Aaah… welll how it happened to watch the movie… I and bro were sitting at home and was waiting for our cousin sister.. as soon as she arrived.. she said.. I want to see the movie… we skipped all our planes and we just went on…. But .. the sad thing… there was a HOUSE FULL…. Then we searched, searched and a bit of more searched… finally we found 3 tickets in Black… Woppiiieee
Oopsss I am going off the track…..
Well… getting along with NEW YORK… the movie has a plot roaming around the shadows of 9/11 attacks happened in New York. 3 very good friends (Omar, Sam & Maya) in which 2 of them (Sam & Maya) get married and Omar loses touch with both of them as he moves to some other place. But suddenly, the FBI detains Omar claiming that he is part of the terror group. But the purpose of detaining him to find solid evidence against his friend Sam, who according to FBI is heading a terror group. FBI forces Omar to best friends with Sam & Maya and stay with them for sometime, so that they can trace activities of Sam. But Omar does not believe that Sam is a terrorist, he goes on a journey to prove that his friend and he both are innocent.
Overall, I really liked the movie, the story, it was pretty much strong, for a change the movie did not have any unnecessary songs and unwanted scenes… perfect direction and editing.
What I liked about the movie was, it tries to shows one of the reasons for some of the guys taking the path of terrorism, it shows how FBI deals with innocent people etc… But at the same time, I did not find ending of the movie proper, something was lacking, raised few questions.
On the acting front, all the actors did their job pretty well, Katrina Kaif is growing movie by movie.. and on the top of it she looked very cute too.. Really liked the character of Sam i.e. John Abraham.. Nicely played.. Neil Nitin Mukesh was pretty impressive.. Irfan Khan was pretty decent, he didn’t have anything much to do, he just played what he was asked for.. Nothing exceptional.. Nothing to show his actual acting skills..
On the music front… I don’t think anything was original… the music was good but nothing original… it sounded like copied partly from his previous movies Cinematography was pretty good..
So, overall, the movie was very good, It is definitely worth a watch.. Go for it..
Cheers

Watching movies is a fun. But getting a good company is like finding Kryptonite. I always watch movies alone but sometimes it gets real awkward specially when it is a Hollywood comedy. It is fine when you laugh with the crowd but when you laugh alone just because you know English and their culture better, the people surrounding you stares at you as if you are from some other rock from the sun but definitely not from the third.
Getting tickets in black is something rejuvenating. I remember those days when the multiplexes were not around, I used to get tickets only in Black, because standing in a queue is pretty boring for me. But now things have change, and you don’t get tickets now only if the auditorium has head count less than ten. I didn’t get once when I went to watch The International, the girl from the counter said,”Sir, The auditorium is empty, the show might get cancelled”.
New York, it was a good effort made to create a connection between youth and the shameful event. The Direction was not good at all right from the begining. It started with mild thrill but eventually, it got boring and even more boring. The unrational cinematography was the another cause for my dislike. John got less than 30% of the focus while Neil was all over and he got most of the time to get along with the female co-star. If I think like Salman Khan, I’d smell fishy. It was the first Neil movie I watched and found he’s as bad as Katrina when it come to deliver the dialogs and his character was not at all required at all, there are ‘n’ number of ways to plant a double agent. Talking FBI, I heard only the name, Irfan Khan, I still call him Badrinath from his first appearance in a TV-soap called Chandrakanta, he was nothing like an FBI agent, so again, direction was going down, he never made a right selection for the character. But Irfan Khan seems to be in love with New York as he just completed another movie titled New York, I Love You. In the middle of the movie it was constant blabbering, kind of boring. Some parts are copied from the Oscar winning movie Crash which was on racial discrimination between black and white.
I am kind of a guy who likes happy ending and this movie got nothing like that, not even close. The climax left a broken hearted guy, an orphan whose father was a terrorist and cop who had to say yes to Pasta what he hated all his life. It never had a drive-home feeling, noone got anything from it. The message was not so clear, the impact was missing. It was like as if you hit a bum with you car and said sorry. That’s all.
As Roshan said, terrorism could never be justified, no matter what is the reason, terrorism is a sin and it should be brought to justice. I agree with that, no matter whether the brown bread reminds something or not. It is clear that it lead to an unhappy ending.
I don’t know from where the music was copied, but I found Mere Sang quite mesmerizing, and I’d say that made Maya the most strongest character of the movie, supporting a fallen guy like that was like raising a child. I’m not sure whether Katrina was good or she just got lucky but Maya was impressive. I would rate 2 out of 5 and it is definitley not a movie to watch over and over again.

I liked the comment by versatile a better review than the actual post. The film narrative became so boring and repetitive that I actually fell asleep in this supposed to be thriller. Secondly the fil is so predictive. I coul actually tell what the next scene is going to be and the scenes are shot in the same cliched way. Its just a good idea wasted for want of proper execution. The storyline could have been exploited so well and it could have delivered a wonderful thriller but it cmae out as a yash chpra film typically afraid to experiment too much away from the formula. Also the actors are extremely wooden. John cannot act if his life depended on it. I mean give that role of a tortured citizen to a guy like kamal hassan or KK menon and see what acting it all about. John just looks john al throuout ..no chnages from the college dude to the mature tortured family man..or the terrorist.
